Monday night at Basic Class, we talked about our June theme of Pratayahara, or withdrawal of our senses. We began practice by turning inward away from distractions and toward our breath. We allowed our thoughts to “float gently by like puffy clouds” instead of connecting them together and making a to do list.
By engaging in Pratyahara, we were more able to keep truly focused on our yoga practice. We checked in with our breath frequently and noticed changes as our breath became slower and deeper. “As you inhale, imagine light moving down your spine and up your center, bringing a gentle sense of warmth across your back and belly. As you let your breath out, ground yourself by directing your energy down, toward the earth.”
