In class this Tuesday, we focused on using opposition; sending energy in opposite directions in order to create more dynamic postures. For example, when in Warrior 2, the arms can extend both forward and backwards and the bending of the front knee sends energy toward the earth, while energy out the crown of the head at the same time allows for a longer, more spacious spine. Reaching through the heels and crown of the head in plank distributes the weight more evenly, as well as takes off pressure on the wrist and ankle joints. Opposition can be a good thing!
What a gift to allow ourselves to receive new experiences each time we come to the mat!
