How to Teach Yoga and Mindfulness for Youth with Denise Nobile Sun, Aug 27, 2017 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Appropriate for all levels

How to Teach Yoga and Mindfulness for Youth

The youth of today face many challenges. With the demands of school, extra-curricular activities, obligations with family and friends, and the addition of technology, kids need to learn more now than ever how to slow down, pause, and take a breath. A movement and mindfulness practice can provide children with the tools necessary to navigate through life's challenges with greater ease.

This workshop is wonderful for educators, clinicians, parents, and yoga teachers interested in teaching children. Learn what mindfulness is, its origins, the mindful brain, breathing techniques, yoga postures that can be practiced standing or in chairs. Participants will also learn self-care practices that can help cultivate greater resiliency.

No yoga experience is required for this workshop. Wear comfortable clothing for a gentle movement practice. A manual will be provided.

Denise is a registered children's yoga teacher and has spent over 15 years as a classroom teacher. She currently teaches English language arts to 6th graders and also teaches children of all ages how to slow down, take a breath, and get up and move.

Yoga Nidra - Guided Relaxation & Meditation - Relaxation Studies with Allison Ray Jeraci Fri, Sep 8, 2017 at 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm

$20 by 9/7, $30 after

Practice the art of Savasana. Join Allison for Yoga Nidra, or yogic sleep, to experience full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. Bring your chronically exhausted and overstimulated self. Highly recommended for everyone under the sun, this is a deep relaxation technique that leads you to experience the relief of stress, restful sleep and a greater sense of harmony and balance throughout your daily life. When practiced on a regular basis, Yoga Nidra can also help to balance emotions, resolve trauma and solve interpersonal problems through self-inquiry and deep reflection.

In this practice, your are not sleeping but rather in a natural state of meditation, completely aware of the sensations in your body and mind while deeply relaxing. We will explore a receptive state of relaxation through setting an intention, becoming aware of the sensations lingering in the body, feeling the breath and the energetic body around us and coming to a place of detachment, a time for self-reflection and deep relaxation.

All levels.

Yoga for Tight Hips - Therapeutic Studies - Semi-Private Lesson with Jessie DiMauro Sun, Sep 10, 2017 at 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

$46, SuperPass members get 15% discount.
For all Levels
Semi-Private Lessons are limited to 6 students. With this low student:teacher ratio, you are able to receive more individual attention to work on your specific needs, and at a much lower cost than a private lesson.

Tight hips can cause a host of issues throughout the body, including poor posture, knee injury, low back strain and reduced mobility (i.e. getting up from the floor). In this lesson, Jessie will work with each student to help you learn how to increase mobility in your hips, creating a more natural walking gait and freedom while sitting, standing and everything in between. She will also explore the connection between hips and emotional stress. Effective propping will be explained so that you have tools to take into your regular yoga practice.

As we age, tight hips can cause balance issues. It is important to keep them mobile and healthy.

Meditation Workshop: The Practice of Mindfulness with Jennifer Blanco Sun, Sep 17, 2017 at 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$15

Join Jennifer for a meditation workshop that challenges common misconceptions about building a meditation and mindfulness practice. Learn how most of your concerns regarding a successful meditation are actually tools that will heighten your experience. Beginners welcome.

Meditation and Mindfulness are two words found all over the media these days. I love the awareness it brings to the masses but at times I find the real benefit, to what I refer to as the “Being Present Movement”, is lost in bullet points and overly flowery descriptions. These valiant attempts at sharing the benefits and reasons for embracing meditation and mindfulness are often pushed aside by the reader due to their fears, perceived inadequacies and lack of understanding to what is needed to build a meaningful practice. If an attempt is to be made at showing the accessibility to this ancient practice, than lets start by sharing the misconceptions often expressed by the newcomers to this modality. It is here that we open up the doors to the real immersion of the practice or better yet living. You see, one of these misconceptions is in order to start a “practice” you need extra time to dedicate to this experience. In truth you just need an awareness to be added to the day you have all ready committed to and not a second more.
